About The Bangsaray Beach Club

History

The club has existed under various names since 1966, when it was built as part of a rest and recuperation facility for officers in the US military.  The club and its surroundings are steeped in history, with many famous or eminent people having passed through its doors.  In the process of the recent upgrade, we have been careful to preserve as much as possible of the original features and “flavour”. You can see evidence of this in the contemporary pictures on the walls, in the fishing memorabilia and in the building itself.  We would love to hear from anyone who has any photos or memorabilia from the Club’s past!

Being a “Club”

The Bangsaray Beach Club has been called a “Club” since it was built. Nowadays we continue to call it a “Club”, not because we have any exclusive membership ideas, but to indicate that we are more than just a restaurant and bar.  For one thing, we aim also to use our location and facilities as a platform for patrons to indulge in more “Club” activities, such as art classes, yoga, sailing, or as was the case many years ago, fishing. Believe it or not, there are still a few fish out there…

But more than this, being a “club” to us means that we want to be a place to which people can come and feel at home.  This translates to many different things.  It starts with a warm welcome and an invitation to “park the stress” outside and come in to enjoy our facilities.

Food and drink

Our objective is to provide the best possible fare, whether it is tasty, fresh and well-prepared food, or a wide range of beverages.  Both our food and drinks menus are evolving, as we find out what works and what doesn’t.

Service

We are definitely friendly and try to be efficient.  We are not always super quick, but tell us if you are in a hurry and we will try to help.

Service charge is not included in the prices.  Spare a thought for the staff taking care of you.  100% of any tips go to them and are shared between front of house service and those working behind the scenes in the kitchen.

Value

Our pricing is deliberately “mid-range”; not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive.  Everyone has their own opinion, but given the quality of our offering, the unique nature of the Club and its fabulous location, we think this translates to outstanding value for money.
